5 Action Items to Turn Networking Events into Content & Calls

#1 Develop a Networking SOP

Having a standard operating procedure for networking events ensures you approach each event with confidence and ease. Tasks like setting an intention, ensuring your business cards are ready, being clear on directions and parking, and tweaking your elevator pitch so it speaks to those in the room are great examples to include in your SOP.

#2 What Is the Content You’ll Create During the Event?

Plan ahead to capture key moments from the event, whether through notes, photos, or recordings. These highlights are excellent fodder for your content! One thing that's always on my list is taking a picture with the event host or with one of the speakers.

#3 Create an Event Post on Your Active Social

Share your insights on social! If you post while at the event, use the event hashtag. I tend to post once it's over (because I'm such an in-the-moment girl). However you choose, know that you're inviting others to experience the event through your perspective and keep you top of mind!

#4 Give away free content!

Offer something valuable right on the spot! I bring five of my books to give away and it immediately shouts credibility. Think of a free asset you can leave with your new connections. It's an excellent way to make you memorable!

#5 Follow-Up, Add Connections to Your CRM

Okay, this is where the marvelous happens! After the event, promptly connect with new contacts via LinkedIn and/or email. Invite them to a "Let's Connect" call or to subscribe to your weekly newsletter. Continue to stay connected through your customer relationship management tool! These touchpoints are vital to building rapport and keeping the conversation going, paving the way for future business opportunities.
